Woods used are Buckeye Burl and Yellowbox Burl,
each side is solid, complete Burl,
one side has one species, other side has a different species.
Burls have been stabilized to fortify the wood and make it very durable.
Any "cracks" you see are called inclusions, and a characteristic of the Burl.
Larger "voids" I have filled with Turquoise.
Glossy finish applied, and hand buffed several times with Carnuba Wax.
Teardrop style earrings:
Earring dimensions are 1" wide x 1 3/4" tall at widest/tallest point,
and are assembled to sit facing out,
they are small enough so they don't interfere with movement of your head or neck.
1st picture is the face (outside), if you prefer the coloring/design reversed, just let me know in buying comments.
