More About One Time Designs

I was an extremely high-end, custom cabinet/furniture maker, for over 30 years. I have been a custom wood worker for 35+ years.

One Time Designs was created, and has been in business since 2008. I now enjoy turning larger sized, completely Utilitarian pieces, on a wood lathe, Primarily using exotic woods that you won't find in everyday general stores.

I love making custom turned bowls, vases, platters, trays, bottle stoppers, earrings, pendants, heirloom quality jewelry boxes, humidors, lazy susans, and general knick-knacks out of wood. I create my pieces so that they are completely Food Safe, and would prefer that you actually use them at parties and family gatherings, instead of just displaying them on a shelf or your buffet. I generally don't like to stain or dye any wood, I would rather let nature's beauty speak for itself But I will use a dye if it will hilight the different grains/patterning of the woods.

My favorite woods to work with are: (especially Burls & Spalted woods)
Curly Maple, Figured Maple, Spalted Maple, Walnut, English Walnut, Claro Walnut, Black Walnut, Flame Box Elder, Rainbow Poplar, Maple Burl, Box Elder Burl, Buckeye Burl, PollyAnna Burl, Yellowbox Burl, Red Mallee Burl, Coolibah Burl, Redwood Burl, Pommele Sapeles Burl, Olive Ash Burl, Iroko, Sycamore, Ambrosia Sycamore, Ambrosia Maple, Chechen, Black Mesquite, Mesquite, Zapote, Burmese Blackwood, Leopardwood, Rosewood, Yucatan Rosewood, Cherry, Chinaberry, Hackberry, Spalted Hackberry, Holly, Red Gum, Red Elm, Cottonwood, Spalted Cottonwood, Bloodwood, and Padauk.

I am a proud member of the following wood related Associations:
